How Then Should We Live

Speculation about the dates, times, and seasons of the return of Jesus is a dangerous preoccupation of many. The real issue is this: that when he comes, He will execute judgment. He explained, “I didn’t come to judge the world,” he said. “I came to save the world.” Absolutely true. This was His mission in the first advent. But the Father has entrusted to him a judgment that yet awaits us. This will be the second advent. (2 Timothy 4:1) I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom.

We then should be living morally pure lives and be zealous in evangelism—personally, increasingly sanctified and personally, increasingly involved in proclaiming the Gospel. Who then is the faithful and wise servant? The servant who is doing what he was asked to do, and doing it when his master returns.

“He who has this hope within him purifies himself even as Christ is pure,” (1 John 3:3), emphasizing that Christian’s hope (in Christ’s return and future likeness to Him) motivates believers to live morally pure lives, actively seeking holiness and reflecting God’s own character in their conduct. It’s a call to active sanctification, where the promise of future purity with Christ fuels present efforts to become more like Him, aligning inner character with outward actions.

Therefore, I exhort you, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, to STOP fixating on the when. (Mark 13:32-33) “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. And Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.” (Emphasis Mine)
