Jesus does not accept the invitation into your heart.

This a doctrine that is not taught by Jesus, not preached by the apostles, not recorded in either the Old or New Testament, and not affirmed by a single Church Father.

To follow Christ is not to repeat a phrase, but to enter a life. It is not to invite Him into the heart as though He were a guest, but to submit the heart, the body, and the will to His lordship within the life of His Church. That vision is older, deeper, and far more demanding than the one many of us inherited. It is also, I have found, far more real. – Kenneth B.
