God's Word to the Wise

I have often heard it said, “God will never give you more than you can handle.” Yes He will. In fact you can count on it. 

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.” (Psalm 34:19)

They borrow this idea from the following verse:

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it”(1 Corinthians 10:13)

God does not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can handle, but He does put you in situations that require Him alone to rescue you. God does not help you to overcome difficulties. He delivers you, by His might alone. 

“We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the hardships we encountered in the province of Asia. We were under a burden far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, we felt we were under the sentence of death, in order that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead. / He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us” (2 Corinthians 1:8-10)
