No Longer Silent

It has become standard procedure to badger into silence those who warn of the folly of another’s ways. I have been silent about such folly, after all, I’m also guilty of similar folly.

My dad smoked 2 to 3 packs of cigarettes a day for the majority of his life. When I attempted to smoke a pipe in my twenties he repeatedly warned of the folly of my choice. I would protest his interference by reminding him that he smoked, and he would respond, “Yes I do and that’s why I do not want you to start smoking.”

Solomon asked God for wisdom and God gave him divine wisdom that, under the power of the Holy Spirit, he shared in Proverbs and other books of the Old Testament. Solomon in his old age did not practice what he preached. Does this nullify the wisdom God had revealed to him? NO!

“Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true and every person a liar, as it is written,

“That you may be justified in your words,
and prevail when you are judged.”

But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) By no means!” (Romans 3:1-6a)

My time left in this fallen world is very short even if God tarries. I am adding insult to injury if I remain silent. I believe God’s Word to be the truth. “He has told you, O man, WHAT IS GOOD, and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

If God wills, I will be posting what our Creator God has to say about How we should live.

I leave you with this:

There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12)
